I’ve been tossing up for ages about getting some designs printed for your nursery and living room walls. With some steady design work and mum duties, I’ve been neglecting getting on top of this but I decided to at least start with one and see what you think. Sometimes you just have to start!
This first print is a little mantra I wrote for bed time with your little ones. If you’re blessed with a sleep fighter (like me.. ha!), I feel like this might help to read to your little one each night as part of your bedtime routine/sleep rituals.
I’m a little way off having these available to purchase, but hopefully the words I have written will be helpful to you at bed time (wine time).
Here are the words for you:
My little one, you’ve had a big day
Full of fun, adventure, laughter and play.
Your head is swirling with thoughts of today
But now it’s time to put them away.
Your body feels heavy, your mind feels light
You’re safe in your bed, and tucked in tight.
Your mumma loves you, your daddy too
And we’ll be here when sunbeams find you.
Goodnight and sweet dreams,

sweet child of mine.
You may (or may not) have noticed a slight tweak to my logo this week. I have felt for a little while that my logo wasn’t quite right and had visions of redesigning it completely. I had talked about it with my mum-in-law (also a designer) and she said she liked it the way it was – what did I not like about it? It was one of those things where you know it just needs a small change but you’re not sure what.
The logos I am most drawn to are simple, classic and clean. My logo is fairly simple and clean in shape, but it just needed a small tweak to tidy it up – which brought me to colour. The colours were not quite right and to be honest, a little busy. The idea behind the colours in the original logo was that Hide and E were the same colour (and to be read together) – Heidi. Get it? Ha so this is an example of an idea being good in theory, but doesn’t translate so well. Nobody really picked up on it.
So I’ve brought it back to basics with black and white and one colour – a great Pantone colour called Rubine Red. It may well be the perfect pink.
The next little change was to my secondary logo. The border around the H mimics the border in my primary logo so has an off centre cut-out. My husband and I were hanging on the couch over the weekend (he was gaming, I was agonising over a logo – standard) and he said “You know if you just turned that border around it would be the C from Create”. Huh. Why had I not thought of that? Thanks Miles! Sometimes you just need someone else to look at your work with fresh eyes.
Anyway next up is new business cards and I’m hoping to get some pretty special ones (that don’t break the budget!) – exciting!
P.s. This blog post has been brought to you by a wonderful little bobbler (baby/toddler) who has decided to take a two hour nap. Win!

Hello there blog readers,
I hope you’ve been keeping well – I can’t believe it is winter already! We’ve been keeping busy with organising the renovation on our little beach cottage, a few different design jobs on the go and growing a little baby all at the same time! Multi tasking my friends, multi tasking.
Our most recent project as been working with our good friends at Slam Skateboarding magazine to turn their amazing print magazine into an app for iPad and iPhone! One of the best things about my day job in publishing is the people I’ve met and all of the new skills I have learnt from much more talented people than myself.
I earned my app design training wheels working on the Slow Living magazine app over the last almost three years at Morrison Media. And now have graduated to designing and producing both the iPad and iPhone apps for Slam – starting from issue 206! So proud to have worked on such a loved publication and to be trusted by the lovely boys at Slam with their baby. It’s on sale today so get thee to the app store!

Hi there lovely people
Just a quick one to show you some of the recent projects I have been working on. I had the pleasure of working with Erin from Erin Schmidt Photography on her new logo design and business cards. She was a dream client who knew exactly what she was after and was great at communicating her ideas. Below you can see the finished business card design – Erin kept the back very simple and minimalist which I love
I’m working on a new logo and business card design today which I hope to share with you in the next few weeks and a DL size brochure for another lovely client which will hopefully be up in the gallery soon.
In other projects, we’ve recently sold our house and bought a new one which we’ll be renovating over the next few months! Very exciting.. you can expect to see some more house and decorating related posts so stay tuned! Just gotta get through the hideous moving out stage!
And lastly, here is the most important project we’ve been working on 🙂
Isn’t this little one a looker? Hehe so inbetween buying/selling/renovating houses, growing a baby, Pinteresting nursery ideas and new kitchens, I’ll hopefully squeeze in a few more design projects for your reading pleasure
Ta ta for now!

I’ve been thinking it is time to spruce (yes, spruce) up my office space. New year, a newly inspired creative space for Hide & Create. I’ve been perusing Pinterest for some inspiration so thought I’d share the best of it with you.
I’m thinking of a charcoal feature wall, monochrone with pops of fluro and lots of new art for the wall to keep me inspired. Stay tuned for office updates!

So this is a little bit late but I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! I had intended a series of Christmas posts but the end of the year just seemed to fly by and before I knew it, I had a house full of guests and a truck load of Christmas ham to eat!
I’m taking a little time off at the moment but am super excited about 2015 and all of the excitement I know that it will hold. I hope you are having a fabulous holiday filled with wonderful food, family, cricket, beach and couch time. For now I shall leave you with a few snaps from our Christmas day and I’ll see you next year!
Christmas eve with my man (dad-in-law in the kitchen!)
Drinks by the pool while the boys played backyard cricket finished the day
Little jars of lollies to hold each place card!
Simple babies breath decorated the table along with tealights

Thanks for visiting my blog! Hide and Create finally has an online home and I am so happy with how this site has turned out. Also, feeling proud as punch as it is the first site I’ve created myself.
Here on the blog I’ll be keeping you updated with all of my current projects, posting about weird and wonderful finds and general behind the scenes happenings at Hide & Create. There’ll also probably be a fair amount of cat photos and cake recipes so if you’re not keen on that, best to stick to the gallery section! Please feel free to take a look through my portfolio which I will be updating regularly. And if you have any graphic design enquiries, head over to the contact page – I’d love to hear from you!
For now, I’m off to bake some gingerbread cookies as I’m feeling particularly Christmasy.
Have a swell Sunday evening folks
