Christmas Gift Guide

I’ve been noticing a lot of gift guides around my favourite blogs so thought I’d put together some of my picks for Christmas. So really.. I say gift guide. But I guess I really mean.. wish list. My wish list 🙂

Nevertheless, I’m sure you will be able to pick up a few ideas for the ladies in your life this Christmas.

1. I love mugs. I have about a million (or maybe like 30) of them and pretty much none of them match. But they all have special meaning and I love choosing which one for my coffee or tea or second coffee for the day. This one is extra specially awesome as it has a cake recipe on it. Mug + cake = awesome. Shop Down That Little Lane

2. Butter makes it better. Has a truer statement ever been uttered? Butter really does make everything better. Nothing better than a coffee on Sunday morning with a piece of butter with toast. I mean.. Piece of toast with butter.. Shop Down That Little Lane

3. I’ve been looking for a great recipe diary to start storing all of my recipes (and so that I’ll get to pass down one of those cookbooks with hand scrawled notes to my grandkids). This one looks pretty neat and from one of my favourite stores Lark Store

4. Being a cat person, pretty much any feline-type gift will make me happy. I particularly love the messy ink style of this print. I think I know a cat lady who would love it. It’s from Hard to Find

5. Again cat related – I’ve been eyeing this ring off for ages. It’s just so cute and simple. If you’re not a fan of cats, Karen Walker does all different types of animals. I’m hoping to find a hamster for someone special. This one is from The Iconic

6. Ok if I’m very lucky, and if the after Christmas sales are good, I might be getting one of these! I’ve been doing so much more cooking and baking since doing the Michelle Bridges 12 week program earlier this year and have just been loving it. A good baker definitely needs a pink Kitchenaid yes? You can find them all over but this one I saw at Wheel & Barrow

7. I was perusing through Down That Little Lane (as you do) and saw this print. It immediately said ‘Queensland’ to me. Love the simplicity and I’m a big fan of black and white. Shop Down That Little Lane

8. I’m a huge fan of Kate Spade products. Among the hundreds that I would like is this pink notebook with ‘Eat Cake for Breakfast’ on the front. Now that’s a philosophy I can live by. You can never have too many notebooks can you? Shop Lark Store

9. Cute, quirky and a little bit different from your run-of-the-mill Christmas cards are these illustrated cards by Samantha Denmark. I particularly love this one with the gingerbread men making their escape! You can shop her products at Big Toast

10. Instagram has brought these gorgeous Turkish towels to my attention (thank you instagram). They are super pretty and fast drying – perfect for a hot summer day by the pool. Shop Island Gyspy

11. I recently received an Emily Green necklace from a dear friend for my 30th. It is so pretty, now I just want one in all different colours! Shop Emily Green

12. I may be a little biased but I think this year’s Frankie calendar is one of the best! There is a whole month devoted to cats so you know.. Cats! Awesome. And lots of other pretty extras inside. I think they may nearly be sold out though so be quick! Shop frankie

13. Gold polka dots! Need I say more? Another instagram find – these plates and bowls from Salvation Jane are so cute. I think these would make excellent ‘company’ crockery. Shop Salvation Jane

Happy Christmas shopping my friends! xx

Desktop Freebie

I am a big fan of Christmas. I love everything about it – the decorations, the tree, the carols, the christmas pudding and the presents! I love the stinking hot summer day starting with a trip to the beach, christmas ham toasties with champagne, followed by lunch with the fam and a lazy afternoon on the couch. And equally good (if not better), the Boxing Day test the next day with all the leftover food. Everyone is in a good mood, you’re winding down at work and we’re all looking forward to a good break. Life is good.

So our Christmas tree has been up for a couple of weeks now (controversially early I know!) but to celebrate the first of December, I thought I’d post a little festive desktop for you to use. Let the countdown begin yay!

Hello World!

Hello there,

Thanks for visiting my blog! Hide and Create finally has an online home and I am so happy with how this site has turned out. Also, feeling proud as punch as it is the first site I’ve created myself.

Here on the blog I’ll be keeping you updated with all of my current projects, posting about weird and wonderful finds and general behind the scenes happenings at Hide & Create. There’ll also probably be a fair amount of cat photos and cake recipes so if you’re not keen on that, best to stick to the gallery section!  Please feel free to take a look through my portfolio which I will be updating regularly. And if you have any graphic design enquiries, head over to the contact page – I’d love to hear from you!

For now, I’m off to bake some gingerbread cookies as I’m feeling particularly Christmasy.

Have a swell Sunday evening folks

H xx
