I’ve been tossing up for ages about getting some designs printed for your nursery and living room walls. With some steady design work and mum duties, I’ve been neglecting getting on top of this but I decided to at least start with one and see what you think. Sometimes you just have to start!
This first print is a little mantra I wrote for bed time with your little ones. If you’re blessed with a sleep fighter (like me.. ha!), I feel like this might help to read to your little one each night as part of your bedtime routine/sleep rituals.
I’m a little way off having these available to purchase, but hopefully the words I have written will be helpful to you at bed time (wine time).
Here are the words for you:
My little one, you’ve had a big day
Full of fun, adventure, laughter and play.
Your head is swirling with thoughts of today
But now it’s time to put them away.
Your body feels heavy, your mind feels light
You’re safe in your bed, and tucked in tight.
Your mumma loves you, your daddy too
And we’ll be here when sunbeams find you.
Goodnight and sweet dreams,

sweet child of mine.
You may (or may not) have noticed a slight tweak to my logo this week. I have felt for a little while that my logo wasn’t quite right and had visions of redesigning it completely. I had talked about it with my mum-in-law (also a designer) and she said she liked it the way it was – what did I not like about it? It was one of those things where you know it just needs a small change but you’re not sure what.
The logos I am most drawn to are simple, classic and clean. My logo is fairly simple and clean in shape, but it just needed a small tweak to tidy it up – which brought me to colour. The colours were not quite right and to be honest, a little busy. The idea behind the colours in the original logo was that Hide and E were the same colour (and to be read together) – Heidi. Get it? Ha so this is an example of an idea being good in theory, but doesn’t translate so well. Nobody really picked up on it.
So I’ve brought it back to basics with black and white and one colour – a great Pantone colour called Rubine Red. It may well be the perfect pink.
The next little change was to my secondary logo. The border around the H mimics the border in my primary logo so has an off centre cut-out. My husband and I were hanging on the couch over the weekend (he was gaming, I was agonising over a logo – standard) and he said “You know if you just turned that border around it would be the C from Create”. Huh. Why had I not thought of that? Thanks Miles! Sometimes you just need someone else to look at your work with fresh eyes.
Anyway next up is new business cards and I’m hoping to get some pretty special ones (that don’t break the budget!) – exciting!
P.s. This blog post has been brought to you by a wonderful little bobbler (baby/toddler) who has decided to take a two hour nap. Win!

Well would you look at that! It’s been a whole year since my last blog post! Where have I been you may be asking?
That’s right. Little baby Milla Plum arrived on 3rd September has been monopolising my time over the past year. I’ve been on maternity leave from my day job and while I’ve been keeping up with a few of my regular design clients, I’ve been just soaking up all this time with my new little human and learning how to be Mumma. Here’s another one because she is just an absolute delight.
Ok so probably no more photos are required, she has already taken over my instagram account. Oops! But I promise to get back to posting here more regularly about the happenings around Hide & Create land. The other exciting thing was that we moved into our newly renovated house just a month before bubba arrived which has been so nice. I’ll have to devote another post to a before an after.
So onto a new little design project. Ok ok… yes it is related to Milla Plum because her 1st birthday is coming up in 10 weeks (whaaa?!) but it is also a really pretty design that I’m super happy with. We’re having a little garden party for her birthday – I’m thinking fairy lights in the big mango tree, little lanterns, flowers in teapots and I’m hoping to organise mum & bub matching flower crowns (teehee). I’ll have to post soon about my party planning.
Until then, have a squizz at these xx

Happy Sunday! It’s a sunny but cool morning here in Cabarita today. We’re heading out shortly for fish and chips on the headland, to soak up the sun and celebrate 13 years with my fella.
We’re coming up to 29 weeks pregnant and with the house renovation in full swing, I’ve been thinking a lot about the nursery. I just can’t wait to get in there and start decorating. Let the nesting begin! I thought I’d put all my ideas together in a bit of a mood board – we’ve already purchased the tall boy and snuggle arm chair when they were on sale and a certain Nanna may already be spoiling our little olive with her first soft toy 🙂 Feel free to let me know any other cute ideas you’ve found!
Hope you find this inspiring if you are also expecting a little bundle, soon to be delivered by stork…obviously xx

Hello there blog readers,
I hope you’ve been keeping well – I can’t believe it is winter already! We’ve been keeping busy with organising the renovation on our little beach cottage, a few different design jobs on the go and growing a little baby all at the same time! Multi tasking my friends, multi tasking.
Our most recent project as been working with our good friends at Slam Skateboarding magazine to turn their amazing print magazine into an app for iPad and iPhone! One of the best things about my day job in publishing is the people I’ve met and all of the new skills I have learnt from much more talented people than myself.
I earned my app design training wheels working on the Slow Living magazine app over the last almost three years at Morrison Media. And now have graduated to designing and producing both the iPad and iPhone apps for Slam – starting from issue 206! So proud to have worked on such a loved publication and to be trusted by the lovely boys at Slam with their baby. It’s on sale today so get thee to the app store!

Hi there lovely people
Just a quick one to show you some of the recent projects I have been working on. I had the pleasure of working with Erin from Erin Schmidt Photography on her new logo design and business cards. She was a dream client who knew exactly what she was after and was great at communicating her ideas. Below you can see the finished business card design – Erin kept the back very simple and minimalist which I love
I’m working on a new logo and business card design today which I hope to share with you in the next few weeks and a DL size brochure for another lovely client which will hopefully be up in the gallery soon.
In other projects, we’ve recently sold our house and bought a new one which we’ll be renovating over the next few months! Very exciting.. you can expect to see some more house and decorating related posts so stay tuned! Just gotta get through the hideous moving out stage!
And lastly, here is the most important project we’ve been working on 🙂
Isn’t this little one a looker? Hehe so inbetween buying/selling/renovating houses, growing a baby, Pinteresting nursery ideas and new kitchens, I’ll hopefully squeeze in a few more design projects for your reading pleasure
Ta ta for now!

Happy Friday my friends! We made it! It’s almost time to down tools and begin happy hour (the best time of the week) but first a little recipe to add to your meal plan for next week! This is actually a Teresa Cutter recipe which gets a run in our house almost every week. It’s a lovely dense little blueberry and apple muffin and is super easy to make. I usually make a bunch of them and freeze them so I’ve always got a baked treat for my morning tea.
3 cups almond meal
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 organic or free range eggs
60 ml (1/4 cup) macadamia nut oil, cold pressed coconut or olive oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons honey / brown rice syrup / pure maple syrup
1 red apple, chopped into small chunks with the skin left on
200 g fresh or frozen blueberries
Preheat the oven to 170°C
Mix together the almond meal and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.
Add the eggs, oil, cinnamon and honey and mix to form a batter.
Fold in the apple and blueberries.
Divide into paper-lined muffin tins.
Bake for 35–40 minutes until cooked through and golden.
The recipe says that this bakes 12 but I usually make them a little smaller as they’re very protein rich, and make about 16. I usually bake these for about 30-35 mins. Enjoy!
We’re heading down the coast again this weekend for a bit of cruisey look around and some fresh sea air. Hope you have a fabulous weekend, whatever you get up to 🙂

Thursday already! And we’re nearly at Australia Day! Can’t believe how quickly January is going.
Today I have a little printable for you. Since doing the Michelle Bridges 12WBT program last year, I have been a very keen meal planner! It’s just one little thing that helps me feel a bit organised when I’m getting shopping done ready for the week ahead.
I’ve designed a pretty pastel meal planner and shopping list combo for you! Just print on A4 and cut in half – one side for the grocery store and one to stick on the fridge for the week. Easy peasy!

Happy planning and shopping my friends!
I’ve been thinking it is time to spruce (yes, spruce) up my office space. New year, a newly inspired creative space for Hide & Create. I’ve been perusing Pinterest for some inspiration so thought I’d share the best of it with you.
I’m thinking of a charcoal feature wall, monochrone with pops of fluro and lots of new art for the wall to keep me inspired. Stay tuned for office updates!

Here is the little January desktop freebie I uploaded for you last week in case you didn’t get it! Remember to keep things in perspective this year and don’t sweat the small stuff 🙂
Have a great week!
